Enabling Transformation
Scan4Safety is a pioneering initiative led by the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) that is enabling the delivery of better patient care, improved clinical productivity and supply chain efficiency in the NHS. Scan4Safety is taking learnings from other sectors, such as retail, to improve traceability and efficiency in the NHS through the use of international barcoding standards (GS1 standards) and common ways of doing business (PEPPOL).
Six demonstrator sites were competitively chosen by the Department of Health in 2016 for the Scan4Safety, and as a company selected to help three of the six pilot sites, Genesis Automation is at the center of this transformation.

Our market-leading solutions are helping to drive a fundamental change in how NHS Trusts take control of their supply chain in order to improve safety, compliance, cost audits, and traceability. Genesis is working with 23 NHS sites which are now seeing real and measurable benefits.
Genesis tracks medical devices and consignment inventory from purchase to point-of-care. By connecting supply use to the patient and clinician, we improve patient safety through elimination of never events (e.g. wrong implant for procedure) and notifications of expired and recalled medical devices.
We also capture total costs of every procedure, including the costs of discarded, dropped or unused items, consignment inventory, equipment use and staff utilization.
