In an era of accelerating digital transformation, clinical safety must be more than an ambition, it must be embedded.
That’s why we’re proud to announce that Genesis is now formally accredited to DCB 0129, the NHS Digital standard for clinical risk management in health IT systems.
This certification marks a significant milestone, not just for us, but for every Trust looking to implement safer, smarter digital solutions across their clinical supply chain.
What is DCB 0129?
DCB 0129 is the NHS’s formal standard for ensuring that digital health technologies do not introduce clinical risk into patient care. It applies specifically to technology developers, requiring them to:
- Assess potential risks to patients
- Build and document safety controls
- Design systems that support—not disrupt—clinical decision-making
- Appoint a qualified Clinical Safety Officer (CSO) to oversee the process
In short, it’s about proving that safety is built in, not bolted on.
This standard sits alongside DCB 0160, which governs how NHS providers deploy and manage those same technologies.
Why It Matters
For NHS Trusts, DCB 0129 is more than a tick-box. It represents assurance: technical, clinical, and legal, that the software they adopt has been:
- Rigorously risk-assessed
- Developed in accordance with NHS clinical safety governance
- Certified by a qualified Clinical Safety Officer
- Ready to integrate into live care environments without compromising patient outcomes
In today’s procurement landscape—especially under DTAC (Digital Technology Assessment Criteria) DCB 0129 compliance is often essential.
What This Means for Genesis Clients
Genesis gaining DCB 0129 accreditation signals a clear message to our NHS partners: you can deploy with confidence.
Here’s what it unlocks:
- Procurement-readiness for NHS England and Scotland
- Trust among CCIOs, CNIOs, CISOs and procurement teams
- Alignment with DTAC, Scan4Safety, MDOR and wider NHS safety mandates
- A strong foundation for national expansion and integration
Whether we’re capturing implants at the point of care, integrating with the EHR, or supporting analytics across Trusts and ICSs, this accreditation gives our clients peace of mind: Genesis meets NHS expectations for safe digital infrastructure.
Safety. Not just a feature - an expectation!
We’ve always built Genesis to reflect the realities of hospital life, from high-risk clinical environments to tight regulatory frameworks. Now, with DCB 0129 certification, we’ve formalised that commitment.
This isn’t about meeting minimum standards. It’s about setting the right ones.
