Use case: Finance

Savings you can defend.

Genesis validates every supply transaction against contract terms before payment and ties spend to the procedure, so finance sees realized savings, not projections, with an audit trail behind every figure.

Trusted by 400+ hospitals and health systems to protect margin across clinical supply.

The problem

Margin leaks one invoice line at a time

Supply is one of the largest costs a health system carries, and one of the hardest to see clearly. Contract terms are negotiated carefully, then eroded by pricing errors, vendor overbilling, missed tier pricing and rebates nobody claimed.

When savings are reported, finance is asked to trust numbers built in spreadsheets by the people claiming them. That is not a methodology a board will accept for long.

Most of that leakage stays invisible to finance until a periodic audit, by which point it is expensive to recover. Physician preference items make it harder still: high-cost implants are billed after the fact, often on paper, against contracts that are difficult to check line by line.

Proof

Health systems already
doing this

Contract overpayments reduced to under 1%, price variance improved by 132.95%, and supply chain expense down 40% as a share of revenue over seven years

Northside Hospital

Northside chose to work with Genesis because its strategic sourcing approach gave us instant visibility into our supply purchasing and contract activity, and immediately identified areas where we could improve and save. Genesis provided a path to ongoing savings.

Supply spend is over budget. Nobody can say why until an analyst pulls extracts from three systems.

High-value implant invoices are approved because checking each line against the contract is impractical.

Expected rebates are tracked in a spreadsheet. A tier was reached last quarter and nobody claimed it.

Service line leaders ask what a procedure really costs. The answer is an estimate.

The savings figure is debated because nobody can show how it was built.

Variance is already broken down by department, vendor and service line, built on transaction-level data.

Every bill-only line has already been audited against contract tier and construct pricing before the PO was issued.

Rebate eligibility is validated automatically, and unclaimed value is surfaced as soon as a trigger is met.

Cost per case includes supplies and waste, broken down by surgeon and site.

Realized savings are reported with an audit trail back to each transaction.

How Genesis closes the gap

Margin protection is not a quarterly audit. It is a set of controls that act on every transaction, and a record that proves what they delivered.

01

Validate every transaction before payment

Every PO and invoice is checked against contract, item master, receipt and rebate terms before payment. Overpayments are stopped rather than flagged after the fact, and earned rebates are captured automatically.

01

Audit high-cost implant spend line by line

Physician preference item charges are audited in real time against contract tiers, construct pricing, waste allowances and off-contract rules, with discrepancies resolved with the vendor before payment.

Explore Genesis Savings

01

Connect supply use to reimbursement

Charges captured at the point of care, with revenue code and HCPCS accuracy maintained continuously, so billable supplies are coded correctly and denial risk drops downstream.

Explore Genesis Data

01

Report realized savings with an audit trail

Realized savings, price variance, rebate capture and working capital release, all tied back to the same transactional data. No reconciliation between systems and no debate over whose number is right.

At the transaction level. Every recovery, contract correction and pricing adjustment is backed by auditable transaction data and a consistent methodology, so the figures stand up to executive and board review.

Most customers begin identifying measurable opportunities within the first several weeks. Results then build as more categories and sites come online.

No. Savings come from contract enforcement, construct pricing, waste reduction and accurate capture, not from vendor consolidation or limiting what surgeons can use.

Genesis works only for the health system. It does not hold economic relationships with manufacturers, and its team includes former medical device professionals who understand supplier pricing from the inside.

Yes. Genesis integrates in real time with your ERP, so savings and variance reporting run on the same transactions your finance team already books.

Yes. A free Savings Analysis or Data Analysis against your own data shows where leakage is occurring before any commitment is made.
