Rebate management
Sourcing and Procurement
Definition
Rebate management is the process of tracking, claiming and reconciling the rebates owed to a hospital under its supplier contracts. Effective rebate management ensures that earned rebates are claimed in full and posted accurately to the right cost centres.
Why it matters
Rebate income is often the difference between a contract that delivers and one that disappoints. Yet rebates are routinely under-claimed because the data needed to claim them (volumes, products, time periods) sits in disconnected systems. Rebate management done properly connects contract terms, transaction data and clinical use, and produces a defensible claim with minimal manual reconciliation.
